prayers to self are self sustaining

an understand of what the person with suicide can’t survive is critical to suicide prevention.
a great place to start a conversation w a suicide person is: what can’t you survive?
pictured is a journal entry from someone who was raped 2+ yrs earlier and first reported the rape the day after it occurred. the day of the journal entry, this person found out there’s no way to get a restraining order or order of protection against her rapist bc of a judge’s previous decision.
her response, out loud, the next morning:
i have to do it i have to do it i have to do it.
the only one who can help me is me.
i’m doing it.
strengthen me with the help i need.
that day, she doubled down on her job search. we still don't know what she can't survive.
asking the question gave her sturdy ground to work from.
she has suicide. she’s in recovery. she has to develop tools and insight to keep her in recovery while surviving conditions that are inhumane. if you’re looking for tools and insight to help manage suicide or ptsd, she’s open to connect. suicide awareness is suicide prevention.
thank you to the speaker for offering her voice and story for the evolution of mental health.
